Fall back—in love with antiques. As summer draws to a close, we can all look forward to our favorite autumn traditions: Labor Day BBQs, putting away all those white shoes, and preparing for the Hada Fall Event. Our Spring Event was a resounding success, with proceeds benefitting the many charitable organizations: Brookwood, The Heritage Society, The Junior Forum, that Hada has come to support over the years. I’d like to take a moment to share the wonderful things these organizations have to say about Hada: "Our two organizations have collaborated to promote the interest and value our cultural heritage brings to the community. The Heritage Society and the community are grateful for this support." The Heritage Society "We are grateful that you care enough to work so hard to raise money like this…" The Brookwood Community We are also very proud to announce that your love of antiques has afforded Hada the opportunity to donate $50,000 to Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts. It’s this dual emphasis on preserving the past and bettering our community for the future that sets Hada apart from other antique shows—in addition to being the oldest antique show in the country! Thank you for helping us become such a success. And we can all be proud of promoting the antique lifestyle. Because they are a reusable resource, antiques offer an environmentally friendly way of decorating your home. And after getting a glimpse at the array of pieces coming to our show this fall, I know being green can be very beautiful. As I like to say, sometimes the most exciting new thing you can get is something old. Last but certainly not least, I’d like to touch upon our growing relationship with the American Society of Interior Designers. This year Hada will be judging a special award: “Best Use of Antiques” to be given out at ASID’s annual design contest. And ASID will once again be manning the “Ask A Designer” booth at our show. Much thanks to all the dealers and enthusiasts who’ll be traveling to Houston this fall. We look forward to another extraordinary show. LARRY N. BAHN
